Ask Dr. Kaiser Question: Dr. Kaiser's April 2001 speech on HIV Treatment mentions dropping Co-enzyme Q10 from the supplement regimen. Why is that?Dr. Kaiser replies: Coenzyme Q-10 is a potent cofactor of the mitchondrial electron Taking additional Co-Q10 as part of your nutritional supplement program has always made good philosophical sense. However, there have recently appeared a couple of other compounds that might be even more important to supplement than CoQ-10 to support healthy mitochondrial/cellular energy production. Because they appear to have of a great deal more research data supporting their efficacy in clinical studies, I have substituted their presence on my list for that of Co-Q 10. Why not keep them all on the list? I would do that except I am sensitive to all the PWA's out there who would like to possibly avoid taking an addtional two pills a day which cost $30/month, if they don't absolutely have to. I might want to hold off on buying Co-Q 10 if I was in that position. Check out our Message Board! |
