Ask Dr. Kaiser Question: I am sending this email from Hong Kong to seek your help. My friend tested HIV positive in May this year. He is a UK national and works in Hong Kong. Currently he returns to London for medical check-ups in the Royal London Hospital every month. His first lab tests (in May 2002) showed a CD4 count of 270 and a viral load of 200,000. The next test in July 2002 showed that the CD4 count dropped to 200 and the viral load increased to 400,000 (this test was done in a different lab). There is a lymph node on his neck, but otherwise he is fine. His doctor gave him a tablet against pneumonia and advised that it is almost certain that he would need to start taking antiviral medicines within the next 12 months.I was concerned with his condition, so I bought your book "Healing HIV". I was very impressed with your approach and the promising results you have achieved. I would like to persuade him to consult you (either by telephone or in person), because as far as I know, his doctor at the Royal London Hospital has done nothing apart from measuring CD4 counts and viral loads. From what I've read from your book and from other sources, with regard to HIV treatment there is a lot more than lab test results and antiviral drugs. The fact that my friend is not living in San Francesco clearly causes certain inconvenience. For this and other practical reasons (such as routine check-ups), may I ask you the following questions:
Dr. Kaiser replies: Thank you very much for your questions. Your friend is very lucky to have a friend as interested in his care as you are. To answer your question, it would not be difficult to set up a consultation with me and maximize the natural aspects of his HIV treatment program. I’m sure I could also offer guidance with his antiviral therapy as well. I currently counsel patients in Nigeria, the UK, Italy, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland. Some of the tests that I will recommend can be obtained in the UK.
